Having a mindset of thankfulness is so important for me. When I am thankful to God, I find it hard to complain or look elsewhere for contentment.
Keeping an attitude of gratitude also fights against depression, sadness and doubt. Giving thanks is vital in keeping my mind focused on Christ as well. Being thankful unto God reminds us of His deep love and faithfulness. We sometimes can be challenged in our faith, especially when trials come. Remembering what the Lord has done and praising Him for Who He is, keeps our faith strong in the storms.
One way to practice being thankful is to keep a journal. Write down your prayers and when God answers those prayers, make note of the answer! In addition to journaling, you can keep a notepad by your bed and before you fall asleep, write down everything you are thankful for. When you wake the next morning, read the list again.
Another way to remain in an attitude of gratitude is to stay in God’s Word. Each day get a healthy dose of scripture. Write scriptures on index cards and put them up at home, at the office or even at school. Reminding ourselves of God’s truth when we are struggling is powerful.God loves us! He never leaves us! He offers us salvation and redemption! He gives us sanctification and grace! He gives us forgiveness! He gives us His Holy Spirit to counsel and instruct us! He gives His Word! He is unchangeable! He is all powerful! The list can go on!
Thank you Lord! We can never outgive or outlove You!
