During this time of year we usually visit family and friends we don’t see very often. What a blessing to be able to spend time with loved ones!
However, not every family or friend gathering is how we dream it would be. Some gatherings can be downright uncomfortable and even painful. How do we handle a less than perfect holiday celebration?
The answer is found in relying upon Jesus and walking in step with the Holy Spirit.
You see, when we are dependent upon Jesus for our identity and value, we don’t have to be treated a certain way or accepted by others to be ok. Sure, it hurts if others don’t seem to receive you, but it doesn’t have to crush you.
You have the steadfast love of your Redeemer and the strength only Christ can give.
Also, when we are walking in the Spirit and our focus is on His glory, we can love others even when they are not loveable. We can choose not to react to a rude or cold attitude. We, by God’s Spirit, can choose to respond in love and grace that God first gave us.
For those of you that may feel extra anxious this time of year, please know I am praying for you. Not only that, but remember that you are never alone…. your Heavenly Father is always with you. 💛
