Where is my focus?

On my worries?

News headlines?

All the horrible things that could possibly happen?

Fears of the future?

Mountains in my life or the lives of my loved ones?

Or maybe my focus is on good things, which is much wiser than thinking on evil, as the Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4.

My blessings, my hopes, my dreams, happy moments, etc.

And even though it is wise to think on good things, this cannot compete with the BEST choice of fixing our primary focus on Jesus, our Savior.

In Hebrews 12, we are told to fix our eyes (and hearts) on Jesus.

As we focus our lives on and around Jesus, we calm down. The storms may still rage but our hearts are calm and anchored in His love, power and peace. Prayer allows constant communication with our Savior. His Word refreshes our souls and renews our minds.

You see, things of this life, good or bad, change. They are unstable.

Christ never changes. (Hebrew 13:8)

Christ is our anchor, our salvation and our only hope. (John 3:16, Colossians 1:27, Isaiah 26:3)

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our Faith, is what we are called to do. When we look to Jesus, we can be restored, strengthened, and refreshed. Anything else can let us down. However, when we fix our focus upon the love and hope of Christ, we can pray more effectively, live more victoriously and love more deeply.
