There is a special kind of heartache when you have a prodigal child. No matter what age they are, 15 or 40, it can crush your heart when your son or daughter is struggling. Prodigal children can have many backgrounds: From homes with long time married parents From broken homes From poor homes From rich homes From Christian homes From lost homes Regardless of where your prodigal comes from, as a Mom you will most likely struggle with feeling responsible for your adult child’s choices. You will feel a deep hurt that some people can’t understand. You may feel betrayed that this child you poured your life into is rejecting your God and sometimes even rejecting you. It hurts. The pain is real. Jesus understands. He’s been betrayed. God understands. He’s loved deeply and perfectly yet the very ones He gave His life for rejected Him. What do we do with this great pain we feel in our hearts? We run to Jesus. Cry out to Him. Tell Him how you must depend upon HIS strength. Then intercede in prayer for your prodigal. Don’t give up…keep praying…keep interceding! Just remember as you are crying out with a broken heart interceding in prayer for your loved one, that Jesus is interceding for you!!! You will get through this. Fix your eyes upon Jesus and don’t look away. Ask Him to give you a scripture to pray over your prodigal. Then praise God and thank Him for the victory even before you see it! I’m praying for you! 💛
