I’ve been reading James 1 for the last week. I read it over and over and each time I read it, I seem to glean even more! This chapter is packed with wisdom and instruction.
James 1:5 tells us that “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Who doesn’t need wisdom?
Then, James 1:6 tells us how to ask for that wisdom. We must BELIEVE IN FAITH that the Lord is listening and will guide us.
Sometimes we ask God for direction in a quick rushed prayer, then promptly turn somewhere else to find the answer. Do we doubt that the Lord has the answer? Are we too impatient to wait upon Him?
James 1:7-8 says that a person, referring to the one who doubts God, should not expect to receive anything from the Lord..such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
This really gets me!
Do you ever feel double-minded or unstable? I must admit that I do. And James 1 tells me why this is: I simply don’t believe God will meet my needs.
Ouch! I’ve had to really search my heart and have come to the conclusion that many times I go to my Father in prayer regarding something heavy on my heart, only to turn around immediately and try to figure it out on my own.
Our actions always follow our beliefs. If we believe God is listening and will take care of the burden we put at His feet, then we can walk in faith and peace trusting His heart for us. However, if we doubt that God is listening or even cares, then we will walk in anxiety and fear desperately grasping for our own solutions to our problem.
I long to be so deeply rooted in Christ’s love and anchored by His Spirit, that no matter what comes my way I am stable and faithful!
What about you? Are you struggling?
I want to encourage you to run to Christ today. Cry out to Him asking Him to strengthen you and help your unbelief. He is faithful!
Praying for you🤎
