From my Heart ❤️

When I  first started feeling that the Lord was asking me to step away from a few things that are dear to my heart, I have to admit it was very unsettling.  But here I am finishing up week three of my FB fast and I have much clarity and direction.

This week I actually logged back onto Facebook because my brother-in-law of 40 years has left this world as we know it. There were funeral arrangements, announcements and connections that had to be made. However,  I’m so thankful he knew Jesus personally and is with Him today.  On the other hand,  the loved ones  left behind are still hurting deeply and processing this transition.

When you lose a family member, you are always freshly reminded how important those family relationships truly are. Family relationships, even the imperfect and strained,  are very important.

Sometimes Facebook or other social media can give false illusions that you have many people that care or that will walk through this life with you.  I say false illusions  because sometimes the same people won’t even speak to you in Walmart.

I feel we are doing a great disservice to ourselves and to others when we stop investing in real life relationships and replace them for social media relationships and connections. It feels sad when we are in a room with our family that we truly love and we choose to look down at our phone instead of looking into their eyes.  It’s times like this that I realize just how much ground the enemy of our souls is taking when we are consumed with technology over face-to-face relationships.

So I challenge you today. Be in the present.  If you’re not able to be with family today, make that call.  Listen to their voice.  There will be a time when you will miss hearing that voice. I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom but I want to encourage us all to not let the temporary steal from the eternal.

Praying❤️
