When we go to the cabinet to grab a can of veggies, we rely on the label to tell us what is inside. If the label says “green beans” we expect green beans when we open the can. Oftentimes we as people mistakingly receive a label (or labels) that do not reflect what is on the inside.
I’m sure most of us had some sort of nickname as a child. My family called me “Lainie” and my sister called me “Grits”. However, today I am referring to labels we carry that misrepresent who we really are.
These false labels can be given by others or even ourselves. Following are some examples of these faulty labels:
Loser, stupid, failure, empty headed, dumb, slow, fast, used up, wasted, trash, dirty, lazy, fatherless, reject, crazy….what other labels can you think of?
When we embrace these wrong labels it doesn’t change our true value but it does change what we believe and how we live.
In Christ, our identity is found in Him and who He says we are. The “labels” He gives are true. Will you believe HIM?
Do you have any false labels that need to be peeled off and replaced by who GOD says you are and what He has done in you?
