God still speaks

I’ve just wrapped up 2 weeks of not being on Facebook.  I must say I do not miss it much.  I miss seeing pictures of my friends and family and updates in their lives.  However, I do not miss seeing endless information that bombards my mind and troubles my soul.

I’ve had more quiet space in my mind to be able to not only talk more to the Lord but to listen for his voice.  I have had several times that I’ve clearly seen his Spirit moving in my heart and in my life.

Now to be clear, as a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible tells me the Lord will speak to me through His word and in the Spirit.  Honestly, my mind has been too cluttered to hear him.  This small break from social media has made all the difference.

Even though I know I am not called to this social media fast forever (so far), I pray that it will forever change me.  We live in a generation and time that technology  has become a huge force in our life.  We do our banking, buy our groceries, read the news, take college classes, and much more all online.

On the other hand, I want to remind myself and others that there is a whole other world going on.  A world where one wakes up to hear the birds, the neighborhood rooster and occasional dog barking. A world in which we can walk across the street and check on our neighbor or take the time to pray with them. A world where we can look into our grandchild’s eyes and listen attentively to what he is saying.  A world where your thoughts can be fixed upon Christ with no interruptions.  A world where you are fully attentive to one thing at a time.

I thank the Lord for this time in my life.  Things are not perfect and we have many trials. However, I feel God’s presence more than I have in some time. And to think that I actually argued with God about taking this time out!

Is there anything that you’re arguing with God about?  Has he put something in your heart that requires a step of faith?  I want to encourage you today to take that step because He is faithful!

Praying you have a blessed weekend 🩵

I should do that.  How did you  manage?  Sometimes it’s so automatic to pick up the phone and go to Facebook without thinking.
